What to Expect at Your First Visit

A Thoughtful, Individualised Experience
Your first visit is designed to give you the time and space to feel heard, understood and supported.
At Life Balance Adjustments, the focus is not just on where you feel discomfort, but on how your body is moving, adapting and responding as a whole.
This is why your initial appointment is longer, so there is time to explore your situation properly and consider what may be appropriate for you as an individual.
Ready to Get Started?
If you would like to explore whether this approach may be appropriate for you, you are welcome to book an appointment.

Why Your First Appointment Is 45 Minutes
Your initial visit is longer than a standard session because it includes more than just hands-on care.
This time allows for:
- A detailed discussion about what you are experiencing
- Exploration of your health history and daily habits
- Assessment of posture, movement and how your body is functioning
- Time to explain findings and answer your questions
Rather than rushing into care, the focus is on building a clear understanding first.
In many cases, care may begin on the first visit, with informed consent, safety and what may be appropriate for you guiding each step.

Before Your Appointment
After booking your first appointment, you will receive a confirmation email containing a health history form.
This form is expected to be completed before your appointment, ideally the day prior, as Dr Kez reviews this information ahead of your visit.
This allows time to become familiar with your situation and any factors that may be contributing, so your consultation time can be used more effectively.
If you have any previous scans, reports or test results, these may be helpful in building a clearer picture.
You are welcome to email these through prior to your appointment:
Completing this ahead of time helps ensure your appointment can run smoothly and without feeling rushed.
Your First Visit
Your appointment begins with a conversation.
This is your opportunity to share what has been going on, how it is affecting you and what you would like to achieve.
From there, an assessment may include:
- Observation of posture and movement
- Areas of muscle tension or sensitivity
- Regions where joint movement may be more restricted
- General patterns in how your body is functioning
Where relevant, factors such as stress, sleep and lifestyle may also be discussed as part of a broader picture.
A Whole-Person Perspective
At Life Balance Adjustments, care is approached with the understanding that the body functions as an interconnected system.
This means your care may consider:
- Physical patterns
- Daily habits and load
- Stress and nervous system influences
- How different areas of the body may be interacting

What Happens After the Assessment
Once your assessment is complete, findings are discussed with you in a clear and practical way.
From there:
- You will have the opportunity to ask questions
- Options may be explained
- Any care considered is based on what is appropriate for you
There is no pressure to proceed, decisions are made together.

If Care Is Considered on the Day
If it is considered appropriate to begin care, this may involve one or more approaches depending on your presentation.
This could include:
- Chiropractic techniques (gentle or more specific)
- Exploration of movement patterns
- Soft tissue approaches
- Discussion around home care strategies

Each visit is adapted based on how your body is presenting at the time.

Ongoing Visits
If ongoing care is considered, this is always tailored to your situation.
Some people choose to attend:
- For support during a particular phase
- To explore changes in movement or function over time
- As part of maintaining general wellbeing
Your care is reviewed and adjusted as needed.

Arriving for Your Appointment
Arriving a few minutes early is appreciated, as appointments are scheduled to run on time so that each person can receive the attention and time they deserve.
You are also welcome to take a few quiet moments in the reception area before your session begins.
Bathroom facilities are available if needed prior to your appointment.
Still Unsure if This Is Right for You?

Questions About Your First Chiropractic Visit
Do I need a referral to see a chiropractor?
In most cases, a referral is not required to book an appointment with a chiropractor.
If you have scans or reports from other healthcare providers, you are welcome to bring them with you or email them prior to your appointment.
Will I be adjusted on my first visit?
In many cases, care may begin during the first appointment. However, this depends on the findings of the assessment and whether it is considered appropriate and safe to proceed.
How long does a chiropractic appointment take?
The initial consultation at Life Balance Adjustments is 45 minutes.
Follow-up appointments may be booked for 15, 30, 45 or 60 minutes, depending on your individual needs and preferences.
Can I bring scans or reports to my appointment?
Yes. Previous scans or reports may be helpful in understanding your health history.
You are welcome to bring them with you, however emailing them prior to your appointment is preferred, as this allows time for them to be reviewed without reducing your consultation time.
Is chiropractic care covered through Medicare?
Medicare does not generally cover routine chiropractic appointments.
However, in some situations, a Medicare rebate may be available through a GP Chronic Condition Management Plan.
If you have a chronic or long-standing health condition, your GP may determine that allied health care could form part of your management plan.
In these cases, your GP may refer you for up to five Medicare-subsidised allied health visits per calendar year. These visits are shared across all allied health providers included in your plan.
The current Medicare rebate is approximately $61.80 per consultation, which contributes toward the cost of your appointment.
Your GP must prepare the appropriate referral documentation and send it to Life Balance Adjustments before or by the time of your first visit.
How many chiropractic visits will I need?
The number of visits varies from person to person and depends on your health history, your current concerns and your individual goals.
At Life Balance Adjustments, care is not delivered according to preset schedules.
Instead, each appointment is considered individually, and any recommendations are discussed based on your presentation at the time.
Dr Kez (Chiro) does not routinely schedule multiple visits in advance. Future appointments are typically arranged one visit at a time, allowing flexibility based on your needs and preferences.
Some people choose to reserve future appointment times if it suits their schedule, particularly if they travel longer distances, however this is always your choice.
Is chiropractic care safe?
Chiropractic care is a regulated healthcare profession in Australia, and chiropractors complete university-level training in anatomy, physiology, diagnosis and manual techniques.
As with any healthcare approach, the suitability of care depends on the individual and their health history.
During your consultation, Dr Kez (Chiro) performs a thorough assessment to determine whether chiropractic care may be appropriate for your situation.
If care is not considered suitable, this will be discussed with you, and alternative options may be explored where appropriate.
Patient safety and informed decision-making are prioritised throughout your care.
If you feel ready to explore your situation further, you are welcome to book an appointment at a time that suits you.
